Hampshire’s great landscapes are threatened by increasingly pointless industrial complexes. We aim to protect these areas from inappropriate development, but we cannot achieve our goals alone. Find out how you can help.

What we are up against

A developer has a proposed application to build a huge group of industrial warehouses on prime agricultural land on Lodge Farm. We believe this is a completely inappropriate development in the wrong location and want to preserve what is productive land in a rural location.

There are already plenty of warehouse sites in nearby Basingstoke, many of which remain empty and despite a readily available workforce with public transport links, there are currently around 500 unfilled vacancies for warehouse staff.

This site has no public transport links and is well away from any nearby population centres, meaning any workforce will have to travel by car. The developers also predict thousands of large 40-ton lorry movements, many of which will have to travel North/South through the nearby villages of Hook or Odiham.

The site is also prone to flooding and contains streams and waterways that feed into the nearby river Whitewater - one of only 200 chalk streams left in the World. One can only imagine the destruction and havoc caused by the runoff of hundreds of parked dirty diesel trucks and warehouse spills going into this pristine environment.

How can I help?

At this stage, it’s important to make sure that local people are aware of this proposed development and the irreversible impact it could have on all our lives especially if you live in North Warnborough, Odiham or Hook as well as surrounding villages which will be subject to thousands of heavy lorry movements each week.

Please let others know of this website using your email, Facebook, Instagram and other social accounts so that we can reach as many people as possible. Also, you must sign up for our newsletter on this page so that we can inform you of any progress in the fight against this proposed development and what actions you can take to help stop it.

We are raising a fund in preparation for hiring consultants and other experts needed to create a strong case to present to the planning authorities to get this development quashed. Click the button below if you want to contribute to our fighting fund.

PUBLIC MEETING in Hook

Due to overwhelming interest, there was another packed public meeting on the 28th of March at Elizabeth Hall in Hook to discuss this proposed development and its enormous impact on Hook, Rotherwick, North Warnborough, Odiham, and surrounding areas. The report on that meeting can be read here.
