On Saturday 1st August 2026 Obsidian Strategic, the London based company promoting the development, announced a 14 day consultation period as part of their preparations to submit a new planning application to build 4 x B2/B8 Megasheds on 80 acres of productive farmland at Lodge Farm in North Warnborough.
The new proposal appears to differ very little from their original pre-application which was rejected by Hart Planning back in 2024. The only difference is that the same million square footage is now housed in 4 'Megasheds' instead of 5, but otherwise pretty much the same unsustainable proposals.
The fact they do not anticipate starting development until 2030 shows that these Megasheds will be a purely speculative development.
Speculation that will lead to about 3,000,000 square feet of productive farmland, a source of food security of which we are in desperate need right now, being replaced with concrete. In a location that also supports a unique ecological infrastructure, including one of the country's rare chalk streams, SSSI land managed by the Wildlife Trust and a flood plain.
